This February, the planetarium will be showcasing two new shows: the live, presenter led “What’s Up: Chasing the Moon” and the Fulldome film, “Voyager: The Never-Ending Journey.”
WHAT’S UP: CHASING THE MOON
As part of National Astronomy week which runs from 1st – 9th February, we will be Chasing the Moon across the sky. During the week, the moon itself will be a beautiful sight. Its phase will change from a tiny sliver of the crescent moon, right through to a full moon on the 11th of February. As it grows, the Moon passes by a multitude of planets, starry clusters, beautiful constellations and some extraordinary stars.

From the 1st – 9th February, the Moon will be following this path across the sky with lots of treasures to spot along the way.

What’s Up: Chasing the Moon is our seasonal Planetarium show for National Astronomy Week.
In this show, we will take a closer look at all these things – how do you spot a planet in the sky? Which cluster of stars can be found in a cave painting in France? Where are brand new stars forming and which stars are ready to die?
And so, we are keeping our fingers crossed for clear skies this week, but the planetarium provides the perfect opportunity to explore the skies even on the dreichest of days.
VOYAGER: THE NEVER-ENDING JOURNEY
Dynamic Earth is delighted to be hosting the UK premier of a brand new Fulldome planetarium film. This show tells the story of two grand missions which launched from Earth nearly 50 years ago in 1977 and are still whizzing away from us, exploring interstellar space. This is the story of Voyager.
These two spacecraft went on an incredible journey across the Solar System sending back the first images of our planet Earth and the Moon in one shot, swinging by some strange moons of Saturn, revealing the secrets of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot and exploring the icy worlds of Uranus and Neptune. They have since left the Sun’s sphere of influence and are heading out into the vastness of interstellar space, a journey they will be making forever. That is, of course, unless something – or someone – stops them!

Voyager is the tale of two legendary spacecraft which revealed many of the mysteries of our Solar System and are now venturing further than any other human invention.
